BT is one of the world’s leading communications services companies serving customers in the UK and in more than 170 countries worldwide. BT provides its customers with fixed-line, broadband, mobile, TV, and networked IT products and services. BT is launching a number of dedicated sports channels, securing the rights for its BT Sport TV package to show 38 live Premier League games every season for the next three years. It has been investing heavily in its sports offering, including buying the rights to show live Aviva Premiership rugby union matches and a deal with the WTA to broadcast women’s tennis. Additionally they have acquired the ESPN and ESPN America channels, adding live rights to show FA Cup, Scottish Premier League, UEFA Europa League, and German Bundesliga football matches.
The interface between BT’s systems and the Sky/Cisco CA system presented a significant business risk due to the short time-scale for planning, delivery, and the lack of experience of broadcast technology within BT. There was a need for a reliable platform with the flexibility to offer an additional interface with the Sky/ Cisco CA system.
With more than 15 years’ experience of managing broadcast channels on Sky, Paywizard was the obvious choice to partner with BT. PayWizard’s robust and flexible payment and subscription platform gives the functionality and experience required to supplement BT’s BSS and OSS systems, while providing an additional interface with the Sky/Cisco CA system.
Integrating the Paywizard platform with the Sky/Cisco CA interface reduces BT’s exposure to risk, time-to-market and costs. Paywizard’s knowledge and experience of operating on multiple platforms, including BT Vision, Sky and YouView, provides a dependable subsystem option for BT.
The Paywizard platform is used by BT to manage the Sky/Cisco CA service, and allows BT agents to manage subscribers on the Sky DSAT platform and to enable/ disable viewing entitlements. PayWizard also provides around the clock support for BT Vision with a 24/7 help desk.
